From the Rising of the Sun

“From the rising of the sun to the going down of the same His name is to be praised.” – Psalm 113:3

What hinders our praise?  Sometimes it is our prisons, our loneliness or the fear of the unknown.  I’m convinced that in this world of many screaming voices there will always be something trying to gain control of our hearts. There is a way out out of this cycle of anxiety. The Bible reminds us in 1 Peter 1:13 to, “Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” The Apostle Paul put it this way, “Take every thought captive” (2 Corinthians 10:5).

Years ago, at the time of our engagement, I was blissfully moving full speed ahead with wedding preparations and counting down the days until we could be together. It was during this time my heart became filled with doubts and fear.  I asked myself, “Is this what love really is?”  ”Could I love him all my days?” What reassurance God gave me during those days of anxiousness when the Lord, who had brought my future husband and I together, gave me a verse to ease my mind… “For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things.”  (1 John 3:20). Many such life-giving treasures are given by God to His His dear children through His word.

Today my prayer is:

Lord,

Thank you for the gift of praise You have given today.  It’s with humble hearts we receive these many blessings from above.  What a great time of year to cultivate a greater appreciation for Jesus which enables us to be more bold in sharing how rich we truly are!

In Jesus name,

Amen!
